Being Present. ACIM Lesson #314.

I seek a future different from the past.

As a Librarian I am a fan of books. One of my favorites, Kenneth Keyes’ Handbook to Higher consciousness, contains a mantra/quote that, for me, lives in infamy. It states:

I always remember that I have everything I need to enjoy my here and now, unless I am letting my consciousness be dominated by demands and expectations based on the dead past or the imagined future.

What this means to me is that we are the creators of our own reality. Creating a perceived future from our now moments. The way we look at this moment makes a difference. The future, as Lesson 314 says, is an extension of the present.

By dwelling on what has passed we are idolizing what can no longer be. Using fearful images not in our present consciousness to create our future. This is not to say that preparing is wrong. But by focusing exclusively on our perceived mistakes and suffering, we miss the opportunity for change that comes with present living.

When we seek a future different from the past, Lesson 314 tells us we have only to trust in the core of our being. To trust that our Divine selves always seek to guide our future to the light. Freeing us from any shame or guilt we might carry. And reminding us that security, peace, and serenity lie just beyond any past mistakes our consciousness might be dominated by.

Here’s to a bright now moment LightWorkers. Namaste.
