Step Away from the Suspenders-ACIM Lesson 17

I see no neutral things.

Lesson 17 follows from the previous lesson: I have no neutral thoughts.

It reminds us, again, that our thoughts become our reality (aka the things that show up in our lives).

And while I may think that my thoughts about say neon green suspenders, are neutral-the truth is I definitely have a stance.

So what’s wrong with my hard pass on neon green suspenders? Well, it seems ok until my bestie starts wearing them. Then arises conflicting feelings and judgements. Is she really ok in the head to wear such things? Should I tell her how awful I think they look?

And that’s just the thing. It’s how awful I think they look, not how awful they innately are. Someone else might even have a raucous good time eyeing those suspenders. It’s my personal viewpoint that makes the difference.

Are you picking up what I’m putting down?

We may believe the things we have in our lives are neutral, but our thoughts charge them with our opinions. And it is awfully hard to love everyone and everything when we are making judgements about them.

So today I’ll grudgingly appreciate the value in, yes, even neon suspenders. Or at the very least, join in what Lesson 17 invites me to do-acknowledge that my thoughts about them are not neutral.

And I’ll love the intention behind all things-to create the joy in all.
